Amazon.com, the online retail giant, announced on Tuesday that it was adding high definition (HD) video content to its list offers for download. The company underlined the fact that it is answering to requests from customers.
"Our customers have been asking us for two things: HD and the ability to watch movies and TV shows instantly on their television," said Bill Carr, the company’s VP of music and video, in a statement, The Associated Press news agency reported.
Amazon announced it will add more than 500 HD T shows as well as movies to its offer via Amazon Video On Demand. The TV shows and movies are from important networks and studios such as Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., Sony Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Showtime Networks, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Universal Studios Home Entertainment.
Let me say that it was about time Amazon did that. People have been becoming more and more familiar with the concept of watching movies and especially TV shows over the Internet. The number visitor on sites such as Hulu.com has been growing rapidly.
The list of TV shows and movies include recent releases such as Frost/Nixon, Twilight, and Yes Man, The Tudors , Smallville , and Gossip Girl.
The HD movies will only be available for rent. The prices will be between $3.99 and $4.99, while TV shows will be purchasable for $2.99.
