Apple finally made it past the milestone of 1 billion applications downloaded. Some iPhone user finally downloaded the 1 billionth application for the App Store. That guy is lucky one. Apple promised to reward the customer who downloads the 1 billionth application and Electronic Arts vowed to find a way of squeezing that customer into one of its future video games.
That person will receive, as promised, a $10,000 iTunes Gift Card, a MacBook Pro, iPod Touch and Time Capsule. Apple did not announce the winner yet.
Apple did not wanted to let this event go unnoticed. In fact, it wanted everyone to know how fast-selling are the applications in their App Store, this is why they promised to reward the downloader of the 1 billionth app. Apple even made a Web page dedicated especially for this event after creating the page that featured a counter of the apps being sold via the App Store. However, it’s quite an astonishing accomplishment if you take into account the fact that the App World hasn’t even celebrated one year since its release. During the eight months of existence, the App Store managed to offer about 25,000 applications to its iPhone and iPod Touch users. According to the latest estimations, the Apple iPhone has about 17 million users in 80 countries.
This accomplishment comes after the company revealed its financial situation which is very good despite the struggling economy. Apple managed to beat the Wall Street forecast in terms of earnings, sales and net profit.
