As MacWorld 2009 ended, analysts around the world summed up the plans that Steve Job’s company has for this year.
This year’s edition of MacWorld did not confirm some of the most vicious rumors that were floating around Apple, such as a “nano” version of the iPhone and the Apple netbook. Still, users were delighted to see the new 17-inch MacBook Pro model, which has been revised to comply with Apple’s current design features.
The 18-inch MacBook Pro will have a price tag of $2,799 and it will hit the stores in about a month. An exciting new feature of the new laptop is an enhanced battery, which should give users six to eight hours of power-outlet independency. However, the new design of the battery is similar to the one in the iPhone, meaning that users have to go to an Apple retailer in order to change the battery.
Probably one of the most important announcements that Apple made at MacWorld was the removal of DRM technology from the entire songs library of iTunes by the end of April 2009. The library consists of over 10 million songs, out of which 8 million were already DRM-free.
Still, there is a downturn, as Apple charges 30 cents in order to lift up the DRM management for each song. On the other, hand, many users will be happy to pay this amount of money, as they will be given full control over their media files use.
Among other new updates from Apple, the most important is the upgrade of the iLife suite, which got an extensive upgrade. There is photo the new geo-tagging feature in iPhoto and new and improved editing capabilities in iMovie.
As the new products and software will be available, analysts wait for the next year’s edition of CES, where Apple will allegedly participate.
