General Motors unveiled today its new 2010 Cadillac SRX, which is scheduled to go on display later this month at the North American International Auto Show, which will take place in Detroit.
The company will replace the 2004 SRX model, as it is set on stepping up to the competition. Its better-selling rivals include Acura MDX, BMW X3 and X5, and also Lexus RX.
In order to achieve this goal, GM focused on all the aspects, looking to improve the interior quality, the safety features, and also the exterior design - in an effort to deliver a full package.
"The all-new SRX is a fresh and compelling crossover aimed squarely at the priorities of luxury buyers," said Mark McNabb, North America vice president, Cadillac/Premium Channel. "With new technologies for increased efficiency and safety, the redesigned 2010 SRX Crossover focuses on both the emotional and pragmatic sides of the luxury consumer."
The car should arrive in showrooms in the second part of 2009, but for now the exact date is not known, and also, the price is yet to be announced. The bold design is expected to attract many auto enthusiasts, but for now, it’s too soon to estimate the vehicle’s impact on the market.
The need for a new model was gradually acknowledged by the company’s officials, with Cadillac sales falling 24 percent from January to November of 2008. Even though 148,000 Cadillacs were sold during this period, with about 14,800 of them being SRXs, Toyota’s Lexus division recorded five time bigger sales with its RX model.
