If Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. doesn’t ring a bell to most of you, his stage name Lil Wayne might change things.

The American rapper, born in 1982, joined Cash Money Records and is currently part of the rap group Hot Boys, who reunited after a split. He collaborated with BG on the album True Story, and released Get It How U Live with Hot Boys in 1997. Two years later, in 1999, he released his first solo album – Tha Block is Hot, who made it into the top ten American Billboard 200 chart.

Soon after, Lil Wayne was nominated “Best New Artist” by “The Source”. His popularity peaked after releasing Tha Carter in 2004, and the sequels Tha Carter II in 2005 and Tha Carter III in 2008. After the success of the albums, Lil Wayne entitled himself the “best rapper alive”.

The New Orleans-based rapper won three awards at the third edition of the BET Hip-Hop Awards, namely Lyricist of the Year, MVP and Alltel Wireless People’s Champ. Except for these three awards, Lil Wayne also got 12 more nominations at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Lil Wayne seems to have everything going for him in his professional life – but what about his personal life? According to his own words, Lil Wayne is expecting a Lil Wayne Jr.! He made the announcement during his acceptance speech for the Lyricist of the Year Award, letting everyone know that his son will be born any day now, and asked the crowd to give a shout-out for him. During the same ceremony, Lil Wayne let slip that he was preparing to release yet another album, a new version of top-selling Tha Carter III.
