Recent reports have announced that Microsoft Corporation would update its mobile software and services strategy the following month at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, where the company is also said to be unveiling three new mobile services.
These are SkyBox, which synchronizes a phone's information with the Internet, SkyLine that would synchronize with Microsoft Exchange servers and SkyMarket, which is a mobile marketplace.
Moreover, reports have also revealed that Microsoft would pull the wraps off the latest update of Windows Mobile, version 6.5, that is, at the show to be held in Barcelona.
For the time being, no information concerning the full version of the Windows 7 operating system has been given out, which has been recently released in beta.
Microsoft had been previously expected to unveil Windows Mobile 6.5 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that was held in Las Vegas from January 8 to 11, but at that time, the company made no statement about their plans for Windows on handsets.
A company spokesperson only said that the tech giant was working on future versions of Windows Mobile, adding that Microsoft was excited about the progress it was making but informed she had no further details to share with the large public.
In addition, the company's vice president of mobile-communications marketing Todd Peters stated that Microsoft was planning to decrease the number of mobile devices it targeted Windows at, reasoning that the company’s desire was to be more focused.
