Need For Speed SHIFT Gets A Release Date

The first game with which EA will try to push its Need For Speed franchise toward new boundaries is scheduled for release this September, the game maker announced today.

Called Need For Speed SHIFT, the game will be released on September 17 in UK and Europe and five days later in the United States. Need For Speed Shift will be released for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

The game is currently developed by Slightly Mad Studios in collaboration with executive producer Michael Mann at Black Box and EA Games Europe.

NFS SHIFT features a realistic first-person cockpit view camera and an all-new crash mechanic, providing a new, simulation level entry in the traditionally action/arcade oriented series.

“With Need for Speed SHIFT, we set out to create a racing game that pushes the genre and delivers something never before seen in a Need for Speed title,” said Patrick Soderlund, Senior Vice President at EA Games Europe. “By focusing on the driver’s experience through the first-person view, we are able to capture the high-speed intensity and gripping emotions of racing.”

Let’s just only hope that Need for Speed Shift will be better than the last two titles released under NFS brand: Need for Speed: ProStreet and Need for Speed: Undercover.

Meanwhile, another project from Need for Speed franchise is gearing up for release. During this summer, Need for Speed World Online will be released in Asia as a a Play 4 Free game exclusively for PCs.

If want to see how amazing Need for Speed Shift looks,  below there is a an in-game video footage, but as you know every trailer should be taken with a little grain of salt.

However, take a look below and judge by yourself. Thanks to CVG for this footage.
