Sometimes, in the gaming world, the only thing it can be said after a company announced a new title, it’s “Wooww, awesome! Bring it on, I’m ready to buy it, play it, change my life because of this game”.

One of this kind of games is StaCcraft II, announced today by Blizzard Entertainment at the 2007 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational event in Seoul, South Korea.

Do I have to tell you that StarCraft II is the long-awaited sequel of a Starcraft and Starcraft: Brood War? I don’t think so!

Although, Blizzard presented a StarCraft II cinematic trailer and a gameplay demonstration by the development team, the company didn’t said anything about a launch date, the storyline or about the system requirements.

What we know for sure is that StarCraft II will feature the same races as the original game, Protoss, Terran, and Zerg. But each race will be further distinguished from the others, with several new units and new gameplay mechanics, as well as new abilities for some of the classic StarCraft units that will be making a reappearance in the game. Blizzard also said StarCraft II will feature a custom 3D-graphics engine with realistic physics and the ability to render several large, highly detailed units and massive armies on-screen simultaneously

“With StarCraft II, we’ll be able to do everything we wanted to do with the original StarCraft and more,” stated Mike Morhaime, president and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We recognize that expectations are high following the long-running popularity of the original game, but we plan to meet those expectations and deliver an engaging, action-packed, competitive experience that StarCraft players and strategy gamers worldwide will enjoy.”

Despite rumors that StarCraft II will be another MMO, Blizzard promised a StarCraft II unique single-player campaign. The game will be released simultaneous on Windows and Mac.
