According to a report from TechCrunch, we should expect a new, smaller Palm Pre device in the second half of 2009. The new device will reportedly be called Mini Pre.
TechCrunch cited on of their “better sources” and reported that Palm's plans to launch the Mini Pre are actually in advanced stages. The company plans to unleash the mini beast into the market most likely in the third quarter of 2009; probably in the fall.
Unfortunately, besides the fact that the device will be Palm Pre's little brother, other details about the upcoming device are not available. The news come on the background of reports that Apple is preparing an iPhone Lite for Verizon. The two companies are reportedly in talks for a future partnership involving the aforementioned smart phone.
The Mini Pre (the name was given by TechCrunch not by Palm but it sound great) will reportedly run on the same operating systems as its bigger brother: the webOS. Palm actually said the webOS is not intended only for the Palm Pre, but for the company's entire line of smartphones.
In other news on Palm, the company will reportedly stockpile under 400,000 Pre units whent the smartphone deemed with the biggest chances to beat the iPhone hits the shelves this year. According to a report form Bloombers, Palm will start its Pre joyride with about 375,000 units in stocl.
