On Wednesday, Sanyo Electric introduced a new line of Xacti Dual Cameras, which includes waterproof HD models, compact HD units and full HD 60p cameras. According to the company, the cameras will be lunched in a sequence starting February 6, 2009.
The line includes three vertical models (DMX-HD2000, DMX-CA9, and DMX-CG10) and two horizontal models (DMX-FH11 and DMX-WH1). The cameras will be appearing throughout February and March, with prices reaching up to $599.99.
Sanyo included in it’s a line a lot of premieres, such as world’s first vivid and smooth Progressive Full HD movies on the DMX-HD2000 and DMX-FH11, world’s first waterproof HD on the DMX-CA9 and DMX-WH1, but also industry’s first HD movie camera with high resolution 10-Megapixel still photos (DMX-CG10).
Furthermore, the DMX-HD2000 is capable of the longest continuous recording of its class (up to 135 minutes), while the zoom function allows for wider image captures, from 2-Megapixel to 5-Megapixel, Sanyo explained.
The waterproof technology allows the cameras to be safely submersed to 1.5 m (DMX-CA9) and 3 m (DMX-WH1). They are ideal to use even on rainy or snowy conditions. In addition to that, they are equipped with 30x optical zoom (also usable in water).
All cameras are small and compact, and have been designed to offer separate photo and video capabilities. The AVC/H.264 format allows for videos to be shared online, on blogs or multimedia sites, and also to be easily transferred to portable media devices.
