Sony Introduces “Carnival Color” PSPs

This month, four new colors of PSP hardware are scheduled to be released in Japan, with the Society of Chemical Engineers in Japan (SCEJ) being set to unveil a new array of „carnival colors.”

The models are called „Vibrant Blue," „Radiant Red,” „Bright Yellow" and "Spirited Green;" the first two are scheduled to be launched on March 5, while the latter two will be rolled out on March 19.

All four of the new PSPs are said to be made available for ¥19,800 ($222) each.

Sony Computer Entertainment Asia launched the Vibrant Blue and Radiant Red models back in January, still no information has been given out concerning whether the new colors would be hitting the Western markets as well or, in case they would, what the release date would be.

The four stock-keeping units (SKUs) are aimed at the third-generation PSP-3000 model and have been set to be released along with a new PSP Carnival Colors Value Pack, which will include the hardware, a 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo, a colored pouch, wrist strap and cloth, and will be priced at ¥24,800 ($278).

Moreover, a new Battery Pack bundle is scheduled to be made available and it will contain a battery cover in one of the four new colors, while its price has been set at ¥5,500 ($62).

Over the years, alongside the standard "Piano Black", "Pearl White" and "Mystic Silver" PSPs, several limited-edition gadgets have been rolled out, which has helped boost sales in Japan.
