Washington - The swine flu outbreak may have spread to the US capital, after the World Bank Thursday reported that one of its staffers was diagnosed with the disease after a business trip to Mexico earlier this month.

The World Bank said the staff member travelled to Mexico from April 13 to 14, before news of the outbreak had emerged, and had come into the World Bank's headquarters in Washington for one day before falling ill. The person had since made a full recovery from the flu.

The bank said it had asked any colleagues who were in close contact with the staff member to remain home for the time being.

Nearly 100 cases of the swine flu virus have been confirmed across 10 US states, including one death. The total included 51 cases in New York, 16 in Texas, 14 in California, 2 each in Massachusetts and Michigan; and 1 each in Arizona, Nevada, Indiana, Kansas and Ohio.
