Yahoo spent the past two months looking for the best fit in the position of CEO for the company. The replacemenent of cofounder Jerry Yang became a top priority in the company’s agenda, and the one fitting the profile appears to be former Autodesk Executive Chairman Carol Bartz. The news were presented by the Wall Street Journal, which presented everything based on its anonymous sources, confirming the rumors going around for the past several days.
The company is looking to bring in some fresh ideas in its effort to get back on track. Considering the fact that about a year ago its shares stood at $20 a piece and have now dropped to around $12, all new help should be welcomed.
There is no doubt that she will have to deal with many challenges, but just one look at her impressive resume should be enough for everyone to understand that she knows the business and also what she’s getting herself into. At Autodesk, she was the company’s chairman, president and CEO for 14 years and decided to step off in April 2006. Before this, she was the vice president of worldwide field operations at Sun Microsystems. In 2005 she was named by Fortune Magazine as one of the 50 most powerful women in business and also, in the same year, one of the world’s 30 most respected CEOs by Barron’s.
Still, the announcement needs to be confirmed by Yahoo or Autodesk in order to make the news official. So far, the two did not respond with any statements.
