Samsung’s new Anycall Haptic phone was launched in South Korea. In the search for the ultimate mobile phone device, Samsung came up with the new concept of Haptic, term which is derived from a Greek work meaning touch. It brings about an innovative feature for mobile phones, as it not only stimulates one’s hearing and seeing, but also the tactile capability.

There are 22 different kinds of vibration for a multitude of answers and functions the user may choose to ask for. When adjusting the volume, for instance, the user will hear a clicking sound and will also feel a slight vibration of the phone. Differentiated vibration classes will be possible to opt for, in order to separate types of callers.

The software is fairly accessible and easy to master, as users are able to drag and drop shortcuts of their favorite applications on to the home screen; pretty much anything can be done without leaving the phone’s front end.

A short description of the phone includes the 3.2-inch touch screen, the 2-megapixel digital camera, full Internet browser, Bluetooth 2.0 and terrestrial digital TV reception. As a bonus, this new model, the SCH-W420, is only 12.1 mm thin.

The cost will vary between 700,000 won and 800,000 won (approximately US$700 to US$800) and for the time being, South Korea is the only place where it is available.
